Arps Dairy, Inc. is proud to support Defiance Citizens in Action’s by donating milk for their Fifth Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Pancake and Sausage Breakfast. The free-will donation breakfast, which is open to the public, will take place on Monday, January 16 from 8 a.m.–11:30 a.m. at the Glenn Park Club House. All proceeds from the breakfast will go to their Martin Luther King Dream Scholarship program.
The scholarship program is in its second year and offers two scholarships of $500 each to students who are graduating from 8th grade at Defiance Middle School. The scholarship cash award will not be given until the student graduates from high school and presents their letter of acceptance to the college or trade school of their choice. As part of the application requirement, the student must submit an essay on the topic of “Why Community Service Is Important, and How I Can Make A Difference.” In addition, the student must pledge to do at least 75 hours of service to the community over their four-year high school career.
The scholarship is open to all Defiance Middle School 8th grade students with applications available at the school office. Scholarship application deadline is Tuesday, March 15, 2017.
